In his role as LifeHouse Cook, Justin is responsible for preparing meals for LifeHouse’s residents under the supervision of Chef Maria Anderson. He and his fellow cooks share responsibilities and take turns preparing, cooking, and serving meals for LifeHouse’s weekly luncheon and monthly resident breakfast. He also helps to prepare food for special occasions such as holidays and external events in the Village of Dixmoor. He and his colleagues are also responsible for preparing food for individual residents when they first arrive and are getting acclimated to their new environment. Justin is a member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and is from Buffalo, New York. He likes to express himself though cooking and takes pleasure in watching others enjoy the food he prepares. He is currently enrolled in Chef Maria’s “No Box Apprenticeship” culinary arts and mindfulness program. His favorite food is chicken wings, and he is a diehard Buffalo Bills fan. He Has been in recovery for four years and believes that LifeHouse Group has given him a sense of purpose. He likes helping other residents and facilitates a narcotics anonymous group every week. He has enrolled in Governor State University’s Peer Support Recovery Specialist certification program. After he leaves LifeHouse, he plans to own a food truck to continue to make people happy through the creation of good food.
